USA – TRU Simulation, an affiliate of Textron Aviation, has been selected alongside Bell Textron Inc. to advance to the final phase of the U.S. Army's Flight School Next (FSN) competition — a program aimed at transforming how the Army trains initial entry rotary wing aviators through a contractor-owned, contractor-operated integrated training model.

Flight School Next is a U.S. Army initiative focused on transforming how initial entry rotary wing aviators are trained through an integrated, contractor-owned and contractor-operated approach that combines aircraft, training systems, and instructional methodologies.
Bell's proposed Flight School Next solution centres on the Bell 505 helicopter and an integrated training ecosystem designed to prepare the next generation of Army aviation warfighters.
TRU Simulation will provide high-fidelity simulation through its Veris Virtual Reality Flight Training Device (FTD), currently qualified by the FAA as a Level 7 FTD. The Veris is configured for the Bell 505 and complements live-flight instruction while supporting pilot proficiency and readiness across the training continuum.
The Bell-TRU team's advancement to the final phase positions the Textron-affiliated pairing as a leading contender to modernise the U.S. Army's rotary wing flight training pipeline, competing to replace legacy training platforms and methodologies.
