Indiana, USA – Republic Airways Holdings, one of the largest publicly traded regional airlines in the United States and operator of the world's largest Embraer jet fleet, has appointed Matthew J. Koscal as President and Chief Executive Officer effective 15 June 2026, finalising a planned leadership succession.
- Koscal joined Republic Airways in 2014 and has served as President and Chief Commercial Officer, including through the airline's all-stock merger with Mesa Air Group completed in November 2025. He succeeds David Grizzle, who will resume the role of non-executive Chair of the Board.
- Grizzle was named CEO in July 2025 following the retirement of former CEO Bryan Bedford and led Republic through the Mesa Air Group merger, return to public markets (NASDAQ: RJET), and early integration phases.
- The combined Republic Airways-Mesa Air Group entity operates a fleet of 314 Embraer 170/175 aircraft, offering approximately 1,300 daily flights to approximately 125 cities across the United States, Canada, Mexico, and the Caribbean under codeshare agreements with American Eagle, Delta Connection, and United Express.
- Republic employs more than 8,400 aviation professionals, with the airline's scale as the world's largest Embraer jet fleet operator making it one of the most significant sources of Embraer type-rated pilot demand in the industry.
