Italy – Italian aircraft manufacturer Tecnam has received the EASA Type Certificate for its new P2008JC NG (Next Generation) training aircraft, certified to the latest CS-23 Amendment 6 airworthiness standards, and has handed the keys for the first production unit to Tecnam Flight Academy in a dual ceremony held at AERO Friedrichshafen 2026.

  • The EASA Type Certificate was formally presented by Florian Guillermet, Executive Director of EASA, during a ceremony at AERO Friedrichshafen on 23 April 2026. The certificate marks the P2008JC NG's transition from the previous CS-VLA (Very Light Aircraft) category to the more rigorous CS-23 Amendment 6 standard — the highest safety tier for general aviation aircraft.
  • Immediately following the certification handover, Tecnam CEO Paolo Pascale Langer presented the keys of the first production aircraft to Carolina Pascale Langer, Accountable Manager of Tecnam Flight Academy, placing the aircraft directly into operational flight training service.
  • The CS-23 Amendment 6 certification enhances safety characteristics specifically at very low speeds, a critical envelope for ab-initio training, providing flight schools with improved safety margins and operational flexibility compared to legacy VLA-certified trainers.
  • The P2008JC NG retains Tecnam's hybrid airframe design combining a carbon-fibre fuselage with all-metal wings and stabilator, engineered to withstand daily flight school operations.
  • The aircraft is powered by the Rotax 912 iSc2 fuel-injected engine, consuming 14 litres per hour (3.7 USG/h) and capable of running on automotive fuels — up to 58% less fuel than legacy AvGas trainers. It features a Garmin G3X Touch glass cockpit, redesigned central console, improved three-point safety belts with inertial reels, and an optional autopilot.
  • Spain's One Air Aviation was previously announced as the Spanish launch customer for the P2008JC NG, with four units ordered and deliveries set to begin in Q2 2026.
  • Tecnam Flight Academy, established in 2019 and based in Capua, Italy, operates the P2008JC NG alongside the Tecnam P-Mentor, creating what the academy describes as a fully standardised, fuel-injected Rotax-powered training fleet.

Statements

  • "Receiving the EASA Type Certificate today and immediately handing the keys of our newest P2008JC NG to Carolina to serve the Tecnam Flight Academy is a profoundly proud moment," said Paolo Pascale Langer, CEO of Tecnam.
  • "The P2008JC NG represents a significant leap in training safety. By certifying to the latest CS-23 Amendment 6 standards, we have created an aircraft that works hard, consumes little, and inspires absolute confidence for the next generation of aviators," said Giovanni Pascale Langer, Managing Director of Tecnam.
  • "Integrating the P2008JC NG into our fleet is a thrilling step forward. Alongside our P-Mentor, it creates a fully standardized, injected Rotax-powered fleet. The combination of the CS-23 safety standards, the advanced Garmin avionics, and this incredible efficiency gives our instructors and students the ultimate platform to train safely and effectively for modern airline careers," said Carolina Pascale Langer, Accountable Manager of Tecnam Flight Academy.
