Portugal – Tecnam and Spanish aviation group World Aviation S.L. have announced a partnership to supply the Portuguese Air Force (Força Aérea Portuguesa) with a modern fleet of Tecnam P-Mentor aircraft for elementary military flight training — awarded by the Portuguese Ministry of National Defense.

  • Under the program, World Aviation will deliver seven new Tecnam P-Mentor aircraft, supported by synthetic training systems and dedicated flight instructor training. The partnership includes a five-year integrated logistics support package covering both scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, ensuring maximum fleet readiness and operational continuity.
  • The Tecnam P-Mentor features the Garmin G3X avionics suite, a spacious cockpit environment, and efficient performance characteristics suited to the demands of military elementary flight training. The aircraft provides a modern, glass cockpit training environment from the earliest stages of military pilot development.
  • World Aviation maintains an existing operational relationship with Tecnam, currently operating five Tecnam P2008JC aircraft within its ATO fleet. The company has a demonstrated track record of over 2,000 students trained, 20,000 flight hours logged, and 1,200 maintenance operations performed — establishing the operational resilience and technical capability required for institutional and military clients.
  • The Portuguese Air Force's selection of the P-Mentor adds to the growing list of military and government training programmes adopting Tecnam platforms. The Portuguese Air Force is also in the process of receiving Embraer A-29N Super Tucano aircraft for advanced training and light attack roles, with the first aircraft departing Embraer's facility in August 2025 for NATO-specific modifications at OGMA in Portugal.
  • World Aviation is the only school in Spain offering comprehensive training in both helicopters and airplanes, operating from bases in Madrid, Malaga, and Girona. The company holds EASA ATO, AOC, CAMO, and Spanish AESA Specialised Air Operations (COE) certifications, and provides services including maritime rescue missions with fixed-wing aircraft and helicopter pilot training for military forces and civil organisations.

  • "World Aviation is deeply honored to support the Portuguese Air Force in preparing the next generation of military pilots. This program reflects our long-standing commitment to delivering high-quality aviation services based on safety, professionalism, and operational excellence," said Fernando Casado, Training Manager of World Aviation Group.
  • "We are extremely proud that the Portuguese Air Force, through our trusted partner World Aviation, has selected the P-Mentor for their Elementary Flight Training program.
