Azerbaijan – Construction and infrastructure contractor UNICO has delivered the new International Training Center at the National Aviation Academy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Baku, serving as main contractor on the project initiated by Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL), which was formally opened on 8 April 2026 in the presence of President Ilham Aliyev and First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva.

The facility is designed to train approximately 30 air traffic controllers and around 3,000 flight crew members annually, representing a significant uplift in Azerbaijan's domestic aviation training capacity.
The centre's training scope covers emergency preparedness for flight crews, theoretical and practical ATC training, ICAO and EASA-aligned aviation education, and aeronavigation training delivered under programmes developed by DFS Deutsche Flugsicherung Academy.
The facility is equipped with the following advanced training systems:
- 360° TWR tower simulator
- Radar simulation complex
- Airbus A320/A321 NEO Cabin Emergency Evacuation Trainer (CEET) supplied by SkyArt
- Boeing 787 door trainer systems
- Real-condition fire training simulators
The project is positioned as the first fully equipped cabin and ATC simulator training centre in the region, intended to strengthen aviation safety standards and support the development of a nationally competitive aviation workforce.
