National Flight Training Alliance Releases Video Explaining 8 Key Recommendations for FAA Part 141 Flight Training Modernisation

April 9, 2026

USA – The National Flight Training Alliance (NFTA) has released a video explainer outlining eight key recommendations developed by a broad cross-section of the U.S. flight training industry to modernise FAA Part 141 regulations — the regulatory framework governing certificated flight schools in the United States.

  • The NFTA characterises the current Part 141 system as having fallen behind the realities of modern aviation, including contemporary aircraft technology, advanced simulation capabilities, and evolved training methodologies. The eight recommendations are designed to improve safety, increase operational efficiency, and expand access for the next generation of pilots.
  • Key areas addressed in the recommendations include the establishment of a Central Management Office for Part 141 oversight and the expanded use of advanced aircraft simulators in the training syllabus — reflecting broader industry movement toward technology-integrated, competency-based training approaches.
  • The Part 141 Modernization effort is the product of a sustained, multi-stakeholder process. NFTA was selected by the FAA as its official industry partner to lead the coordination of Part 141 regulatory modernisation. Throughout 2025, NFTA convened working group meetings at institutions including Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, engaged with the U.S. Senate Commerce Committee alongside aviation education platform UpskillAir, and achieved legislative success with two bills passed.
