India – low‑fare carrier IndiGo has confirmed a firm order for 30 additional Airbus A350‑900 wide‑body aircraft, converting an earlier memorandum of understanding into a contract and bringing its total A350 order backlog to 60 aircraft.
The order conversion accelerates IndiGo’s shift into the long‑haul international market, leveraging the A350‑900’s long range and improved fuel‑efficiency.
With this move, IndiGo is signalling its ambitions to expand beyond its domestic narrow‑body footprint and establish a more global footprint by 2030.
The A350 family, manufactured by Airbus, has amassed more than 1,400 orders from 63 customers worldwide as of end‑September 2025 — underscoring the type’s level of market acceptance.
