Hong Kong – Cathay Pacific Airways has shared that its newly certified Boeing 777-9 full flight simulator has received certification from the Hong Kong Civil Aviation Department (HKCAD), with finalists of the airline's inaugural Cathay Inter-School Aviation Challenge Cup (CISACC) among the first to experience the device.

The Boeing 777-9 FFS has been certified by the Hong Kong Civil Aviation Department, establishing Cathay Pacific's simulator training capability for its next-generation widebody fleet ahead of aircraft deliveries expected to begin in 2027.
Cathay Pacific has committed to 35 Boeing 777-9 aircraft following an additional 14 orders announced in 2025, making the type a cornerstone of the airline's long-haul fleet renewal.
The simulator certification marks a significant pilot training infrastructure milestone, enabling Cathay to begin 777-9 type-rating and conversion training for its pilot corps well ahead of the first aircraft delivery.
